Description

This project involved an emergency repair on a broken culvert 50 feet underground, adjacent to an active highway. Due to the high volume of traffic, 24-hour traffic control was required. This highly technical project needed flexibility to overcome challenges due to discovering unknown soil and substrate conditions encountered while excavating. The project placed a coffer-dam composed of structural steel sheet pilings to project and enable a 50-foot-plus excavation to expose the collapsed portions of the box culvert.
